What's in a Balloon

MARIA TENO
There are only twelve. We've found seven, and you're our only clue.

LIBBY
What would I know?

JACKSON ENTERS THE KITCHEN, PLACES BOTH HANDS ON THE TABLE, AND LOOKS UP AFTER A SECOND.

JACKSON CALDWELL
Maria? Can I talk to you?

LIBBY SETS DOWN HER MILK AND STANDS UP.

In Private.

JACKSON AND MARIA LEAVE LIBBY IN THE ROOM, AND SHE SITS DOWN AND DRINKS THE LAST OF THE MILK.
SCENE CUTS TO MARIA AND JACKSON IN A STAIRWELL.

MARIA TENO
Jackson, when can we tell her?

JACKSON CALDWELL
Do you have the clue?

MARIA TENO
She has no idea about anything.

JACKSON CALDWELL
How can she?

MARIA TENO
Maybe we have the wrong Libby?

JACKSON CALDWELL
No, she's the only one.

MARIA TENO
How do you know? Jackson, we need to be really cautious. I could get in trouble with the law.

JACKSON CALDWELL
Well, at least we'd be together in prison.

MARIA TENO
No you wouldn't. You would narrowly escape and I would be forced to tell where you were. (raising voice, like when a song has a crescendo) And you wouldn't bother saving me. You'd be on a Cuban Cruise, and I'd be a prison cell for something that was all your plan. (Maria huffs out in direction of the kitchen)
