Growing Up: A Poem

growing up
isn't always easy
growing up
isn't always hard
growing up
brings new surprises
growing up
all along

when we are little
there isn't a care
we think we are old
but we're not
when we are little
we snuggle with innocence
not realizing
what is to come

we grow a little
and find out a lot
we grow a little
and love
we grow a little
and then regret it
we grow, and then
we can't stop.

but when we are old
we realize the good things
when we are old
we are grateful
when we are old
we see what it was all for
when we are old
we wish to go back

so snuggle with innocence
and stay with innocence
think of the good
stray from the bad
just be grateful
instead of hateful
i promise, things will turn out.

Life In Mill Halley: Poems!

I know I'm not publishing anymore Life in Mill Halley until the book is done, but I can still post Skyler's poems! They aren't in the book, so what better time than when I have no idea what to write?

So, here we go:

The One Who Calls Me Sweet

We're together
We're meant to be
I can't get you off my mind
When I try
You catch me in your gaze
You hold me in your arms
I know that I will never leave
And hope you think the same.
           -Skyler Foster

What I Don't Know

Some nights I climb into bed
With a soul feeling as broken as shattered glass
Because I can't find the hurt in me
And I know it's in you too
But if you know there's hurt in me
Then you must be keeping it a secret
Because what I don't know isn't harmless
What I don't know is what keeps me awake.
           -Skyler Foster

Some Feelings

Some feelings you can't put to words
Some feelings can't be drawn
Some feelings can only be felt
Some feelings are only expressed through tears

Risen

This poem can be interpreted many ways. Write your interpretation in the comments!
------------------------------------

Risen

A figure rises
Out of the Ashes
Out of the Dust
Out of the flame
Where he stands, facing the crowd

His head is a round egg
Bare as a naked man
And a cloth is draped over his body
The crowd has fallen silent
Children are hushed
A booming voice erupts

Heads turn
Searching for the source
Searching for the cause
Searching for the meaning
While the voice continues rumbling

The voice is smooth
But rough thunder blankets the town
Screams are heard
All working together to end the silence
Feet pound the ground
Working to grab what they can
Stay together
Run.

I run to the hills
There it must be the safest.

day."
